Hello and welcome to my new Head Teacher Blog. In an effort to continually improve communication at Chestnuts and help parents keep in touch we have started this new blog.
My aim will be to make regular postings which keep you updated and allow you the facility to make comments or ask questions. I hope you find it useful.

About Me
Hello,
This blog is updated by Ms Shaw - Head Teacher of Chestnuts Primary School
Great idea. Really pleased you've entered the blogsphere!
It's so loveley that the school are always trying new ways to keep us in touch. Its often very hard as a working parent and I really appreciate your efforts
Hello,
Just a brief question about the school website. We've been trying to access it from the ipad and don't seem to be able to access the class pages via the buttons on the left (about us, news, children, etc.). Works fine when we use sitemap and enter class pages that way, but a bit tricky for the kids. Any idea why this is? Is there anything that can be done to change it? Other links seem to work fine.
We really like the website and think it's great that it's so childcentred. My son wants to visit it quite a bit, particulary for the external links to educational games, etc. one thing we've noticed though: orange class's page has a lot of outdated information about what they've been learning at school. Apparently it hasn't been updated since last year. This makes it really hard to decide what's relevant to the children this year and what isn't.
Thanks for making communication so much easier - great idea to have a blog.
I have spoken to James our IT Technician and he is aware that using ipads to navigate our website could be problematic - we think this is due to the version of Flash Media used when the website was built. We have contacted our web designer and asked them to somehow solve the problem for us. I'll let you know when I hear back from them. We hope to have things resolved by the new year.
In terms of the class pages our plan is to use the first staff meeting back in January to give teachers time to update their class pages and download some work onto the class gallary. Glad your'e finding the website useful.
Thanks for the quick and detailed feedback on my questions! It all sounds good.
It is always so inspiring to learn how enthusiastic and hardworking indeed are our head and deputy teachers, and all the staff who have joined in all the multiple efforts which the school has been undertaking to achieve its mission. The road ahead is long and certainly far from easy. But counting on these staff it is encouraging and inviting. So, I can only say please be sure I am more than willing to participate in any way my personal circumstances allow me to.
Thanks for being so enthusiastic and competent. But above all, for being so caring and responsible with our children.
